Prepare for the Trek and Danskin triathlons with swim course swims

Lake Andrea Thursday night cross-lake swims begin June 16!

Chicagoland triathletes preparing for the Trek Women’s Triathlon on July 10 and the Danskin Women’s Triathlon on August 21 may want to take advantage of a series of swims following the race courses in Pleasant Prairie. The RecPlex will be offering cross-lake swims of Lake Andrea on Thursday nights and alternate Saturdays throughout the summer.

Trek Triathlon Training - Saturday, May 1

Class on Saturday, May 1 will be in the IcePlex Rooms A & B.  Easiest option is to park in the IcePlex parking lot, enter through the IcePlex, and walk straight back.  Alternatively, you can enter through the RecPlex, walk straight down the hallway past the racquetball courts,  through the double glass doors, and the room will be on your right.

Lake Andrea Running Path

The Lake Andrea running path has been re-routed around the pool construction. It now goes around the IcePlex/RecPlex buildings, out to Terwall Terrace. If running on the path, please use caution on the road, since that section is used for the Day Camp drop-off and pick-up.

The closed section is not part of the Trek or Danskin Triathlon run courses.

May 24 Class

Reminder: This Sunday's Intermediate/Advanced class is doing a cross-country workout at UW-Parkside. Please meet in the parking lot across from the course start at 7:30.

May 23 class

We will be having both the 7:30am and the 10:00am classes this Saturday. Please be on time. The group will leave on the bike ride within 10 minutes of the class start, so if you are late, you will likely miss the group.

Word is that 93rd Street is open and has been partially paved, so we will try to ride the entire course. Remember that afterwards you are scheduled to do a 10-20 minute run (this is a Brick workout). You will need to secure your bike before running.

If you are at all uncertain about the bike course, bring your Cue Sheet from last week (or pick on up from me on Saturday) and tape it to your handlebars.

I have some new Extreme Sports Beans (thanks, Jelly Belly!!) so make sure to take some for the ride or for afterwards.

May 17 Class

A reminder that Sunday we are riding the Trek Bike Course, followed by a run.

Plan on meeting with your bike at 7:30 on the lake side of the Baby U (the former coffee shop) south of the RecPlex parking lot. Park in the opposite end of the parking lot from the RecPlex, then you can just walk your bike up the path to the Baby U building. There is a deck facing the lake and that is where we’ll congregate. Don’t be late; we’ll be on the course no later than 7:45.

IF IT IS ACTIVELY RAINING AT 7:30, we’ll meet in the classroom and either get ahead on the lectures or do the workout in the spin studio and indoor track.

Remember bike helmets are mandatory, iPods/earphones are absolutely prohibited, and you should have what you need to change a tire. Also make sure you bring a water bottle or two to keep hydrated. I’ll bring the Sports Beans if you want to take a bag or two of those on the ride.

Please review the course here; I am assuming that everyone is familiar with the route so I will not bring cue sheets for everyone.
